Lions fall to Bulldogs in Oklahoma contest

WESTSIDE -- The skies were clear, with no rain in sight, as the Gravette Lions tried to break their two-game losing streak when they traveled across the border to face off with the Jay, Okla., Bulldogs in a nonconference contest.

The Bulldogs were the first to strike gold as a touchdown and extra point put them in the lead, 7-0, in the first quarter.

A three-point field goal in the second quarter by the Lions put them back into the game but down by four going into halftime.

Jay would prevail throughout the second half, scoring three touchdowns and two extra points to take a 27-3 victory over the Gravette Lions.

Gravette has yet to win a game but hopes to snap its losing streak when the Lions travel to Lincoln Sept. 21 to battle the Wolves for a chance at their first conference win of the season. The game starts at 7 p.m.
