GENTRY -- Changes are happening at the Gentry Public Library. The library's new hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Fridays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to noon. The library staff hopes the later hour makes it easier for patrons to return books, check out the new arrivals and participate in other library activities.

Several new programs are being offered, including a Thursday 6:30 to 9 p.m. "Pop Pop Tabletop" boardgame night for 12 to 18-year-olds and a group-led yoga session starting Monday, Jan. 21, at 8 a.m. Other activities planned include coffee hours, superhero events, fishing at the library, storytime and art exhibits.

Library fee structures are also changing. Daily late fees on books and other materials will be 10 cents with a $2 cap per item. Previously, the late fee was 5 cents per day with a $20 cap. Saturday amnesty is discontinued.

Library cards are free for adults and children, but a photo ID and proof of home address is required, as is a parent or guardian signature for patrons under the age of 18. New cardholders' checkout is limited to two items but, after those items are returned, the limits change to five books, five DVDs, and five books-on-CDs. All items check out for two weeks.

The library's collection includes books for adults, young adults, young readers and toddlers. DVDs in each of these categories are also available.

Fishing poles and disk-golf sets are also offered for checkout.

Library services include faxing, copying, printing, and public computers which include two computers designated just for children.
