Library plans huge weekend book sale

GRAVETTE -- The Gravette Public Library is having a huge used book sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18 and 19, at the old library building, located at 406 Charlotte Street S.E.

"This sale provides a great opportunity to stock up on books to read this winter or to begin a home library for children who are learning at home this semester," said Karen Benson, library director.

Hardback books, DVDs and audiobooks are priced at 25 cents each, and paperback books are only 5 cents. Shoppers may fill a "Love My Library" bag for $1. The library will also have grab bags of paperbacks for 50 cents per bag.

"The library depends on fundraisers, donations and grants to support library programs," said Benson. "Although the library isn't currently holding on-site programs, we're offering virtual programs and providing Take and Make bags with crafts and STEM projects for children and teens."

The library's largest fundraiser, the annual gala, was postponed because of covid-19.

The Gravette Public Library is not currently accepting book donations in order to preserve storage space for returned items which must be quarantined prior to being put back into circulation.
