— Susie Barnes

Susie Barnes, 67, of Colcord, Okla., died Nov. 28, 2009, in Colcord.

She was born July 27, 1942, in Siloam Springs to Mae and Roy Ahrens. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Tim Luther and wife Kellie of Fayetteville; one daughter, Tammy Matthews and husband Melvin of Lincoln; two stepsons, Tommy Keene and wife Nancy of Grove, Okla., and Marion Lee Barnes and wife Tish of Colcord; four brothers; five sisters, including Joan Smithson and Bonnie Dilbeck and husband Henry, both of Siloam Springs; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Dec. 2 at the Colcord Church of Christ. Private burial followed at Beck Cemetery in Colcord.

Memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Arrangements were by Epting Funeral Home of Fayetteville.

Ronald Chester Elms

Ronald Chester Elms, 64, of Gentry, Ark., died Dec.1, 2009, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital in Siloam Springs, Ark.

He was born Dec. 3, 1944, in Fairfield, Calif., to Chester and Florene Cypert Elms. He was raised in Hobbs, N.M., and served with the New Mexico National Guard. He was an electrician and a musician. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Gentry.

He is survived by his mother, Florene Cooper of Gentry; a sister, Linda Rantz and husband Phil of Crossbow, Tenn.; and a brother, Mac Elms of Odessa, Texas.

Memorial services were Dec. 6 at First Assembly of God Church in Gentry with Kevin Stone officiating.

Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

Ipha Dela Rober ts

Ipha Dela Roberts, 95, of Rogers, died Dec. 2, 2009,at Circle of Life Hospice in

Born Oct. 21, 1914, in Redstar, she was the daughter of Wesley Friend and Rebecca Collins Friend. She spent most of her life in Decatur and was a farmer and housewife. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Decatur. She married Arvin Roberts in Newton County on April 18, 1937, and was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Decatur.

She was preceded in death by her husband; four sisters; and one brother.

Survivors include three sons, Nolen Roberts and wife Joan of Siloam Springs, Johnny Roberts and wife Donna of Noel, Mo., Jimmy Roberts and wife Susanof Decatur; three daughters, Faye Trammell and husband Jim of Lowell, Sharon Redmond and husband Jerry of Rogers, and Charlotte Sykes and husband Leonard of Springdale; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Andy Friend of Huntsville.

Funeral services were Dec. 5 at Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs,with Mike Whorton, Kirk Anderson and Jerry Sadler officiating. Burial followed at Decatur Cemetery in Decatur.

Arrangements were by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Mary Odell Smith

Mary Odell Smith, 81, of Siloam Springs died Dec. 4, 2009, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital.

She was born Dec. 19, 1927, in Benton, to Harold McVay and Nellie Ingersoll McVay. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Siloam Springs.

Survivors include her husband James; two sons, Keith Smith and wife Lois of Owasso, Okla., Randy Smith and wife Vicki of Springdale; one brother; two sisters; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs.

Arrangements are by Wason Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Carol Lee Sumpter

Carol Lee Sumpter, 59, of Colcord, Okla., died Dec. 1, 2009, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Born Nov. 17, 1950, in Siloam Springs, she was thedaughter of Delbert Morgan and Aileen Davis Morgan. She was a lifetime resident of Colcord. She was a reading recovery teacher at Allen Elementary since 1991 and formerly taught at Gentry Schools for almost 15 years. She loved quilting. She was a member of the Colcord Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Sumpter; andher parents, Delbert Morgan and Aileen Davis Morgan.

Survivors include one son, Greg Morgan and wife Penny of Ralston, Okla.; one daughter, Lora Sumpter of Colcord; one step-son, Jimmie Sumpter and wife Danielle of Hamlin, Texas; nine grandchildren; one brother, Danny Morgan of Sandusky, Okla.; and one sister, Wanda Ramsey and husband David of Colcord.

Funeral services were Dec. 5, at Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs with Larry Ellis officiating. Burial followed at Dickson Cemetery, near Cherokee City. Arrangements were by Wasson Funerals Home of Siloam Springs.
