GENTRY — Pioneer Football Camp was held in Pioneer Stadium last week, with 14 young players enrolled.
The camp was designed to teach young players, grades three through seven, the fundamentals of the game.
"The purpose of our camp this week was to teach some of the fundamental skills that kids of all ages need to be successful football players," said head Pioneer football coach Brian Little. "We exposed the kids to many things including proper running, throwing, catching, blocking and tackling techniques. Other activities included timed
events in which speed, agility and quickness were
the focus.
"I was pleased with how well the kids per
formed this week; I could see improvement from
day to day," Little said. "My only disappointment
was that there were not more kids participating."
Little extended his thanks to the players at
tending and to their parents.
The three-day camp, held July 21-23, was di
rected by the Pioneer Football coaching staff with
assistance from high school players and coaches
from the Gentry Youth Organization.
