School Pride Days big success at GIS

— GENTRY - School Pride Days took place this summer at Gentry Intermediate School, with the following items accomplished:

◊Student center was painted with a bright yellow;

◊The boys and girls restrooms were painted and made more kid friendly;

◊The bulletin boards were redecorated;

◊Vinyl letters were used in the student center and on the entrance doors;

◊Furniture was moved in the student center;

◊Office bathrooms were painted;

◊Banners were relocated to the bus tunnel;

◊The front flower bed was replanted;

◊A new flower bed was created around the old oak at the circle drive;

◊The front of the building and concrete slab were power-washed.

Numerous businesses donated to make the campus project possible.

Among them was the Gentry Intermediate Parent-Teacher Organization; Curran Feed Store; Pioneer Pizza, Pioneer Patchworks;

Parks Lumber; Anderson's Lumber; Lowes; the LittleDebbie Store; and the Gentry Youth Organization.

Working on the projects from the school staff were: Denise Waters and her family; Carmen Tromp;

Rachael Thrailkill; Betsy Raiford; Heather Fox;

Jaymey Boston; Hannah Frazier; Rhonda Lyles; Sherrie Curry; Julie Harrison;

Terrie Metz and Michelle Wade.

Arvest Bank employees also contributed by providing shift labor. Two employees at a time came to help, with more coming on the next shift.

Parents and students contributed as well.

Chelsey Rae, Caityln and Chandler Beach; and Alyssa Smith.

Those who participated would like to make the program an annual event at the beginning of each school year.
