— ◊ The Gravette City Council appropriated $300 per month to sponsor a youth recreation program during the summer months. Coach Bernard McAbee has been hired to direct the program which will include swimming classes, softball and baseball activities.

◊Plans are being made for the annual Decatur homecoming to be held May 28. It is expected to be expanded into a Northwest Arkansas Poultry Festival including a beauty pageant, chicken cooking contest and barbeque.

◊A Good Friday assembly was held at the high school which featured a choir directed by Major HoseaDixon. Jamie Gregory led in prayer and Cleta Varner told the Easter Story.

◊The Gospel Tabernacle advertised Special Meetings and “you are invited to attend”.

◊A total of 953 dogs in the county received rabies vaccinations. There were 39 clinics held. The State Health Department reported Benton County had the highest rate of rabies in cattle last year. No number was given.

◊McAllisters offered Pork Roast, 35 cents a pound; Bananas, 3 pounds, 29 cents; 10 pounds sugar, 79 cents; Miracle Whip, 49 cents; ice cream, half gallon, 49 cents.
