Candidates must file petitions

— Persons seeking the Mayor and Alderman (City Council) positions in Gravette and other cities of Second Class must file petitions to be placed on the ballot in the November 2 General Election.

Petition forms and information packets are available at the office of the County Clerk in Bentonville. When petition forms are completed they are filed in her office at the County Administration Building.

The Mayoral position is for a four year term. Aldermen are elected for two year terms. The Recorder/ Treasurer, also a four year term, will not be filled until the 2012 election. Persons presently holding the positions in Gravette are: Mayor, Bill Howard; Ward 1, Position 1, Chris Beller; Ward 1, Position 2, Terry King; Ward 2, Position 1, Forrest White; Ward 2, Position 2, Byron Warren; Ward 3, Position 1, Brent Cannon; Ward 3, Position 2, vacant (Council member Kurt Maddox recently resigned). The Recorder/Treasurer position is a four-year term but will not be on the ballot until the 2012
