Girls win and boys lose against Huntsville

— The Lady Pioneers came from behind and beat Huntsville in conference play by a single basket on Jan. 12 at the Gentry High School gymnasium.

Huntsville jumped ahead in the first quarter 11-8 and held on to that lead through the end of the third quarter, finishing the half up by two points and the third quarter with a 31-26 lead. But the lady Pioneers battle back in the fourth, picking up 13point to Huntsville’s six, to win the game by a score of 39-37.

Brittany Green was the high scorer for Gentry, picking up 12 points, eight under the basket and 4 from the freethrow line. Terra Jones also picked up 4 points at the free-throw line and three field goals. Courtney Millsap scored eight points in the game, with a three-pointer, two field goals and another three points at the freethrow line.

Brittany Green and Terra Jones also led in rebounds with eight and seven respectively.

Gentry 49, Huntsville 67

The Gentry Pioneers finished the first quarter and first half down by only two baskets in their conference game against Huntsville Jan. 12, but Huntsville continued to increase its lead in the second half, outscoring the pioneers 40-26 in the second half of the Gentry ball game, for a final score of Gentry 49, Huntsville 67.

Joe Morris was the only high scorer for Gentry, putting 25 points on the board, nine of those from behind the three-point line. Scherer picked up seven, and Justin Bryant six.
