Repair Begins On War Eagle Bridge

— The War Eagle Bridge located south and east of Rogers is being closed for a construction project to restore the historic bridge near War Eagle Mill.

The bridge will be closed from June 24 until September 30, according to a press release from County Judge Dave Bisbee’s office.

The bridge has been the subject of many stories and much discussion in an attempt to save the bridge because of its historic presence and because itserves a large rural population in the area. Cost of the project is more than $800,000.

Because the bridge closing will result in delayed emergency and law enforcement response time, Sheriff Keith Ferguson announced that mutual aid by Washington County paramedics, deputies and firefighters will be responding to the area until Benton County personnel can reach the required destinations.
