David Heaton

David Michael Heaton, 59, of Centerton, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers. He was born November 13, 1950, in Hereford, TX, the son of Lloyd and Lois Bolin Heaton.

Mr. Heaton was educated in Texas and Arkansas and graduated from Gravette High School in 1969. He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother, Lois Heaton of Gravette; two sons, Scot Heaton and wife Paula of Centerton and Samuel Heaton and wife Leigh Ann of Gravette; two daughters, Sabra Bird and husband Eric of Gravette and Sydni Pipkin and husband Jerry of Trumann, AR; four sisters, Carol West of Gravette, Pegi Frisbe of Amarillo, TX, Jo Fowler of Gravette and Phyllis Garza of Killeen, TX; and 16 grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Friday, March 5, at Bella Vista Funeral Home with pastor Bruce Potter officiating.

Roy Barnett

Roy Lee Barnett, 77, of Bentonville, died Monday, March 1, 2010, from injuries received in a vehicle accident. He was born March 2, 1932, in Vandervoort, AR, the son of Edgar and Ruby Barnes Barnett.

Mr. Barnett worked at Killoren Co., Bud Harris Alignment and Blackwell Ford in Bentonville and later operated a full-service gas station until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of Gravette United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, two brothers, his first wife, Ellen Haselip, and his second wife, Ruth Martin.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Hershberger Barnett; three sons, Don Barnett, David Barnett and Roy Darwin Barnett, all of Bentonville; three daughters, Debbie Barnett of Morton, WA, Brenda Arredondo and husband Michael of Powell, MO, and Doris Perry and husband Gary of Bentonville; one sister, Bonnie Elton of Hamburg, AR; one brother, Raymond Barnett of Mena, AR; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was March 4 at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers with burial at Coffelt Memorial Cemetery in Vaughn.

Alfred Dixon

Alfred Smith “Al” Dixon, 81, of Southwest City, MO, died February 27, 2010, at a Joplin hospital. He was born September 3, 1928, in Southwest City, the son of Charles and Maude Wilson Dixon.

Mr. Dixon graduated from Southwest City High School and served in the Army, Coast Guard and Marine Corps, earning full retirement. He was a rural mail carrier and later served as a barber in Southwest City for more than 56 years. He served 12 years as Mayor of Southwest City and was Past Master of Washington Masonic Lodge in Independence, MO. He was donor of land for the city’s library and a collection of photographs, etc. from his barber shop. He was preceded in death by a son, M. C. Town.

He married Daphne Town January 20, 1956. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Jo An Barrows of Southwest City; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Private burial was at Southwest City Cemetery under direction of Ozark Funeral Home, Southwest City.

Memorials may be made to the Southwest City Library Building Fund, c/o Cornerstone Bank in Southwest City.
