Public Meeting Announced Concerning Sewer Project

— Gravette City Council at its Thursday night meeting announced plans for a public meeting to hear input concernng the upcoming wastewater treatment facility project.

The meeting will be next Thursday, May 27 at 6 pm. at the Civic Center. Input from citizens is being sought.

The city is under mandate to upgrade or replace the existing system to meet new state/federal environmental requirements. Thecost is estimated at up to $8 million.

In other city business, Mayor Bill Howard introduced Allyson Ransom as Communications and Resources Director. One of her aims is to secure more grant money for city projects. The group heard reports from various city departments; heard the Planning Commission has two new members, Kelly Wallace and David Herbert;

that the commission isworking to modify the city’s rural planning jurisdiction and is working on an annexation plan.

The group was given estimates of paving Limekiln Road and estimates of pool repair costs and told that a grant application for that project is being prepared.

A draft ordinance updating inspection fees was discussed and presentations for upgrading the city’s phone and networking systems were received.
