Weather Damage Occurs

Strong winds, which had many of the earmarks of a small tornado, swept through the region early last Thursday, uprooting trees and damaging poultry houses and other small structures.

The wind, estimated at 50-plus miles per hour, was just one of the weather factors that occurred last week. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, a total of more than 4 inches of rain fell in the Gravette area. Washouts on county roads, as well as toppled trees, caused some traffic problems.

Several pictures of wind damage from the storm are printed on an inside page of The News Herald.
