— Ashley Casey, kindergarten teacher at Glenn Duffy Elementary School in Gravette, was honored at last week’s meeting of the Gravette School Board.

Casey was presented the Reagan Excellence in Education Award, “presented to teachers who view every child as a person of worth, a child to be taught and a life to be nurtured,” said Keith Vire, CEO of the Arkansas Support Network.

Casey was nominated by Beth Johnson, whose son Zane is in Casey’s class. She wrote, “Zane suffers from CP and Ms. Casey has been outstanding in helping my son Zane. She goes above and beyond what she is called to do ... she is quick to praise and to love him.”

The plaque which was presented reads: “The Reagan Excellence in Education Award is presented in honor of Mary Sue Reagan and Betty Lynn Reagan who taught, loved and nurtured children for a combined total of 95 years in Rogers.”
