Pickup truck injures heroic pedestrian

— A child, whose name was not released in a police report, suffered scrapes and minor bruises when he was nearly struck by a vehicle near Kindley Park in Gravette on Friday, shortly after noon.

The child, who with other children with Imagine (caregivers) in Gravette was crossing Highway 72 to go to the swimming pool, was shoved out of the way of an approaching pickup truck by Chris Crose of Imagine. Crose was struck on the leg by the truck driven by Gary Colvin of Gravette. Colvin was not able to stop in time to avoid the collision.

Both Crose and the child were taken to Ozarks Community Hospital. Neither was hospitalized.

The accident report has not been finalized, but Colvin may be ticketedfor failure to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
