Pickin' time comin'

October sale event will include west-side communities along Arkansas Highway 59, as well as Arkansas 102 to Centerton

— Whether you’re pickin’ or sellin’, Arkansas Highway 59 from Siloam Springs to Gentry to Decatur to Gravette to Sulphur Springs, including a loop on Arkansas Highway 102 to Centerton, is where you’ll want to be Oct 12, 13 and 14. Pickin’ Time on 59 is geared to offer collectibles, antiques, yard-sale items and anything local businesses want to move out.

Businesses are encouraged to clean out those back rooms and take advantage of the traffic that will be in town during that weekend.

“These six area Chamber of Commerce organizations have all come together to put together this fun and economic booster for our area during one of the prettiest times of the year in Ozarks,” said Bev Saunders, Gentry Chamber of Commerce director. “We hope everyone will get involved in this firstyear event. I think, at the end of the day, we’ll all benefit from this in many ways.”

Those wishing to set up a booth along ArkansasHighway 59 must contact the property owners and get permission, and everyone is asked to obey the sign ordinances and road easement laws.

“In Gentry, we have several spaces along Highway 59 in which folks may set up, but they must call me to reserve a space. There is no charge, but we do need to be sure we have a spot for those wanting to setup a booth for those three days,” Saunders said.

Anyone with questions or desiring more information about the event is encouraged to contact his or her area Chamber of Commerce: Sulphur Springs - 215-6022; Gravette - 787-8998; Decatur - 466-9797; Centerton - 531-9395; Gentry - 736-2358; and Siloam Springs - 524-6466.
