Gravette man charged with burglary, shooting incident

— A Gravette man was arrested on charges he broke into a Siloam Springs apartment on Friday morning and shot through the door of an occupied bedroom.

Police said Tyler J. Ivey, 23, broke into 2250 W. Central St., Apt. 115, through the kitchen window, and fi red ashot through the bedroom door, according to a news release. A man, woman and a child were in the apartment and had locked themselves inside the bedroom.

Ivey faces charges of aggravated residential burglary, a Class Y felony, and aggravated assault, a Class D felony.

Siloam Springs police were called to the apartment and heard two gunshots from within the apartment when they arrived.

After the first shot was fired, Ivey and the man inside the home fought, during which a second shot was fired. The woman and child were able to escape during the struggle. Ivey followed a short time later and was arrested.

The occupants of the home were not injured. A handgun was found inside.

Capt. Geoff Lewis, of Siloam Springs Police Department, said Ivey was an acquaintance of the occupants but they didn’t know why Ivey broke in.

Ivey was taken to Siloam Springs Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries he suffered when he broke into the apartment, Lewis said.

Ivey was later booked into Benton County Jail.
