Decatur man charged with sexual assault

Wife charged with attempting to keep victim from pursuing criminal charges against her husband.

— Antonio Naranjo, 49, of Decatur, was arrested on Feb. 2 for allegedly entering a woman’s home and sexually assaulting her.

His wife, Lexanne Naranjo, 26, of Decatur, was arrested on Jan. 31 for forging a note from the victim saying she had dropped the charges and for offering the victim money not to go to police.

Antonio Naranjo allegedly entered the victim’s home about 6:30 a.m., Jan. 27, and assaulted her while she was sleeping on the sofa, according to a report from the Decatur Police Department.

The victim asked to go to the bathroom and then woke her husband, who was sleeping in the bedroom, and asked him to have Antonio Naranjo leave. She didn’t tell her husband what had transpired until Antonio Naranjo was gone because she was afraid the two men would get in a fight, the report states.

After Antonio Naranjo left, the victim immediately called police and an investigation ensued, the report states.

Over the next several days, Lexanne Naranjo allegedly made multiple calls to the victim and sent her text messages offering her between $40 and $100 to drop the charges, the report states.

Lexanne Naranjo also gavepolice a note from the victim - with the victim’s name misspelled - saying she wanted to drop the charges against Antonio Naranjo, the report states.

Lexanne Naranjo was arrested on felony charges of forgery and hindering apprehension or prosecution and was transported to the Benton County Jail.

Antonio Naranjo was arrested on felony charges of residential burglary and sexual assault in the second degree and transported to the Benton County Jail.
