Men charged in battery, theft cases

GENTRY - Police have obtained an arrest warrant for Brian James Dennis, 26, after he allegedly took a car and purse from Amanda Setser of Gentry and wrecked the car.

According to police reports, Setser allowed Dennis to sleep in the car on the night of June 7 and allowed him to enter her residence to use the restroom and get a drink in the early hours of June 8. During that time, he is alleged to have taken her purse, with car keys, cash, some financial cards and other paperwork. He then allegedly stole her car.

According to police reports, a sheriff's deputy from Crawford County called Gentry police saying the car had been found, having rolled over numerous times on Interstate 540. The deputy told Gentry police that witnesses saw the car's occupant exit the vehicle with a backpack and head into a wooded area. He was later apprehended camping under a bridge and is being held by Crawford County on local charges, according to police.

Police obtained a warrant charging Dennis with theft of a motor vehicle (a Class C felony) and theft of property (a Class A misdemeanor).

Domestic Battery
