Thoughts on Snow in May

The following writings are from the fifth grade students in Mrs. Hadley’s homeroom class at Gravette Upper Elementary. We hope you enjoy reading their thoughts about snow in May: Snow in May? I wouldn’t believe you until I saw it myself. Arkansas has never had snow in May before that’s been recorded and I am still in school. It was 85 degrees Wednesday, 55 degrees Thursday then the temperature dropped and the rain from Thursday turned into snow on early Friday. And today we got to go outside for five minutes and played in it.

Can you believe it snowed in May? Well I can’t. It’s the halfway til summer and it’s snowing. And we just went outside in it.

That was freezing. We had a big snowball fight in it. Well I hope it doesn’t snow again.

Wow! Snow in May. I can’t believe it! Today the snow was good enough to pack it. My teacher let us go outside for five minutes and we threw snowballs. I wonder why it snowed in MAY!? I think we got around an inch of snow here. That was the best morning ever because we threw snowballs at school and you can hardly do that without getting in trouble. That’s what we did in May with snow on the ground!

Today is awesome because it snowed in May. On the way home and to school I am going to have a snowball fight with my sister. We built a snowman while waiting for our brother. We all play snowball fight outside during school time and had a blast. Now May is a blast. I wish it was like this tomorrow. That is what is awesome about snow in May.

It snowed in May! That was the first time in history for it to snow in May. May is supposed to be really warm like 70’s or 80 degree weather. But today it was 31 degrees F snowing in May. That is amazing for it to snow in May. We just now got to go outside and have a snowball fight. It was fun! If you wanted white fluffy snow you got it. I just can’t believe it!

This is the first time it has ever snowed in May. Me and my teacher went outside and had a snowball fight. I hit my teacher a couple of times and she hit me too. I hit my best friend Cameron a couple times. He hit me a couple times too. We all just laughed a lot. There was my whole class out there. There was snowballs everywhere.

They were flying everywhere.

Can you believe it? It snowed in May! This is the first time in May for it to snow and it be recorded.

This is probably the only time this ever happens. I think that is cool. The other thing is my class went out and had a snowball fight. I hope it snows again because that was fun.

Can you believe it snowed in May? My class and me just went outside and had a snowball fight. There was snow all over the ground and you couldn’t see nothing but white. It is freezing cold and if you go outside without a coat you would be really cold. This is what we did when it snowed in May.

We went outside for five minutes. We got to throw snowballs outside. We also got to throw it at people. Wow! It got to snow in May! Now that’s cool. We were the only class to go outside for May snow!!!!

Can you believe it snowed in May? I went outside with my class and teacher today for 5 minutes and we had snowballs and we got to throw them at each other. Last night it started raining and it was cold and it has been getting colder all week and so last night the weather had gotten so cold is started to snow! Today when we went outside it was freezing! I can’t believe it snowed in May! I alsocan’t believe it got as cold as it is now!

Can you believe it snowed in May? It’s the first time it snowed in May and today our teacher let us go outside and throw snowballs for 5 minutes and she threw snowballs too. I missed a lot but it was really fun. I hit Christian a lot though. It was fun and really cool and we’re probably the only class who got to.

The snow was really cold but it was really fun and worth getting your hands cold. I thought they might never get warm but finally they did. It was really fun to have a snowball fight with the whole class.

It snowed in May. Wow! Would you believe it? It is spring and there is snow. Green and white don’t mix well. The leaves are green and the snow is so white. I wonder if the tree is going to die and what happened to fall and summer? Man that was a quick fall and spring wasn’t it? Is it Christmas already?

Can you believe it snowed in May! Snow in May is a ton of fun.

It’s always good to see snow and all the hot chocolate and cider after you play. Snow in May lets you finish all the things you’d wished to do before. With snow in May you can have snowball fights and make snow angels.

It’s a lot of fun when you have friends to share it with, too. I’m always going to miss my snow in May and all the fun along with it.

Can you believe that it snowed in May? This is the first time that it’s snowed in recorded history in May. There is a lot of snow piled upon everything. I think this is amazing because it snowed in May for the very first time in Arkansas recorded history. It usually snows in the other months and not in May. This is a surprising day.

It’s awesome that it snowed in May! It was the first time in Arkansas that it snowed in May.

The best part is we got to play in the snow at school without getting in trouble! It was a blast! The whole class, including Mrs. Hadley, had a big snowball fight. Everybody was running around, having fun, and the funny thing is I almost thought it was December. I hope this will happen more often and I’m hoping it will snow a little bit this summer because it’s going to be really hot.

I have the most outrageous news! It snowed in May. Scientists say it’s the first time ever for Arkansas to have snow this late in the year. There is a sad part about this. Unfortunately all of the spring trees will die and have to re-grow again. On the other hand it is one of the best feelings to be a part of Arkansas’ lovely nature. What’s more is having the best teacher to take us out and play in it even if it is only for a short time. So as you can see, it is great to live in Arkansas!!

Did you know that it snowed in May? I am not lying. It did. Our class went outside to play in the snow. It was fun. We had a snowball fight and I got hit in the face with a snowball but I hit the kid in the face that hit me in the face. The teacher played with us in the snow. I had a blast. It will be the only time that we will play in the snow in May with our teacher probably.

Never in recorded history has it snowed in May in Arkansas.

It is piled up everywhere…on the roofs, in the gutters, even in the trees. This is craziness in weather. Usually in May we’re in shorts and short-sleeved shirts but now we are in coats, long sleeved shirts, and pants. This is something different.
