Yoga classes to be offered at local farmers' market

GRAVETTE - Vendors at the Gravette Farmers’ Market continue to offer more and more goodies as the growing season moves forward.

This season, which has been unusually cool for homegrown crops, is turning the corner and more homegrown veggies will be offered at the market which operates each Saturday morning in Old Town Park.

Besides produce, shoppers can find plants, baked goods, craft items and other locally-created items, said Allyson Ransom, who oversees the operation for the city.

Starting Saturday, June 1, a new feature will be available: a Yoga Class in the Park. It will be free on the first and third Saturdays of each month from 10 to 10:45 a.m. The free class is by certified yoga instructor Erin McVittie and is for persons of all ages, sizes and abilities.

“All are welcome to attend this free class,” she said.

Erin, who spent several years in Ireland, earned her yoga certification from the LTTC in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, in 2009. A Gravette high school grad, she has returned to her hometown.

Having obtained several other certificates, including YogaED (yoga for kids), she said she is the only certified Curvy Yoga teacher in the tri-state area.

“I’m bringing yoga to Gravette because I feel it’s important for local residents to have access without feeling like they have to go to Bentonville, Rogers or even Fayetteville,” she said. “If you haven’t tried yoga before, now is your chance at Yoga in the Park,” she added.

She currently conducts classes each Tuesday evening at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center in Gravette.
