SILOAM SPRINGS — The Community Physicians Group was formed Nov. 1, 1998, by a group of independent clinics to provide quality healthcare for the area’s growing population. Fifteen years later, that small group has grown to having 30 providers in nine clinics with 177 employees in Northeast Oklahoma (Westville, Kansas, Chouteau, Locust Grove, Jay and Grove) and Northwest Arkansas (Siloam Springs and Gentry).
CPG’s goal is to offer choices of excellent medical attention for preventative medicine and disease management. The system succeeds in keeping primary care providers inrural communities to the benefit of the population and local hospitals.
“CPG providers and staff are active in their communities and go beyond just providing health care services,”said CPG president, Dr. Dan Pummill. “The local schools benefit from the attendance of CPG families who are accustomed to being involved in outreach services such as health fairs, benefits, sporting and other extracurricular school activities. Towns with good primary health care show an ability to grow and care for their citizens.”
CPG has a commitment to the growth of strong health care alliances through a multi-county area.
“The alliances that have been developed with area hospitals, the involvement in wellness programs in several towns and the involvement in the federallyfunded Comprehensive Primary Care Initiative have put CPG at the leading edge of creating medical homes for present families and for the additional patients who are expected to seek care under the expanding federally assisted insurance programs,” said Pummill.
Additional providers have been recruited in several clinics, and services are ready for new patients. CPG has an advanced electronic health record system that is on the cutting edge of technology that ultimately improvesthe quality of care, and extended hours for their patient’s convenience. CPG hopes to reach out tonew markets for primary care and will work with communities to meet their healthcare needs.
