Gravette PD offers safe drug disposal

— Persons who live in Gravette and northwest Benton County who have unwanted or outdated medicines may dispose of them Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Gravette police station.

As part of the National Take Back (Drugs) Initiative II, unwanted or expired medications, prescription or over-thecounter drugs, will be accepted for proper disposal.

A police officer will be at the police station on that date, Oct. 26, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to accept the drugs/medications.

Persons are advised that old drugs should not be disposed of by fl ushing or pouring them in the sewer system since many of them contain ingredients that could pollute the underground water supply.

“This collection service is a safe and proper way to dispose of the items,” said police chief Andrew Bower. “Make plans now to utilize this free service.”
