DECATUR -- One of the most important times of the football season is homecoming, with its week-long celebration full of spirit, pageantry and pride.
The Decatur Bulldogs return home after a three-week Friday night series at Hartford, Mountainburg and Hackett. They posted a 1 and 2 record on the road. They will face the Johnson County Westside Rebels at 7 p.m. Oct. 3 in Bulldog Stadium.
For Decatur High School, Sept. 29 begins a week-long celebration of Bulldog pride starting with colorful banners, decorations and a pep rally, culminating with the crowning of the 2014 homecoming queen before the game on Oct. 3.
Eight maids make up this year's homecoming court. They include Lesly Vicente, Michelle Vang, Lizeth Fuentes, Haley Burden, Martha Gonzalez, Courtney Kumm, Sarah Harris and Lacy Barrett.
Accompanying this year's court will be eight members of the 2014 Bulldog team. The escorts include Victor Urquidi, Allan Castaneda, Joey Barnes, Brody Funk, Terry Kell, Jesse Bruce, Hector Aguilar and Eddie Lucio.
The big question is which one of these maids will become the 2014 Decatur Bulldog Homecoming Queen. To learn the answer, come to Bulldog Stadium at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
