Decatur public library adds two program to computer system

DECATUR -- The Iva Jane Peek Library in Decatur recently added two new programs to its computer system.

ABC mouse.com is a free learning program for children ages 2 to 7 and can only be accessed through a designated computer at the library.

The ABC mouse program offers more than 5,000 learning activities. Each activity was designed by teachers and education professionals to aid in early child development. The program has six academic levels with 450 lessons in each level. Some of the activities include books, puzzles, games, songs and art.

The Basic ESL (English as a second language) program is an online service that offers library patrons a chance to improve their English skills through the online service in the library, or at home using the library website.

Both programs are free to library members. Membership is free and an application can be obtained through the Iva Jane Peek Library at 121 N. Main St. in Decatur.

For more information on the ABC mouse or Basic ESL or any other programs the library offers, visit the city of Decatur website at decaturarkansas.com/departments/library or 752-7323.
