OCH sponsoring photo contest

GRAVETTE -- The Ozarks Community Hospital health system will join the nation on Nov. 19 in celebrating National Rural Health Day to showcase the importance of providing healthcare access to rural communities.

Events recognizing National Rural Health Day and celebrating the power of rural are being planned throughout the nation. OCH is planning to mark the occasion by conducting a photo contest. Citizens are invited to participate by submitting a photo of what rural means to them. Creativity is encouraged; for example, snapping a photo highlighting favorite rural pastimes, scenery or depicting rural life in general.

All citizens are invited to enter. To submit a photo, visit and like the OCH Facebook page at www.facebook.com/OzarksCH/. Please include the hashtag #celebratethepowerofrural and any other in formation that would be beneficial to include about the photo. The picture with the most likes at 5 p.m. on Nov. 19 will receive a $50 VISA gift card. The winner will be contacted via Facebook. Questions or comments can be directed to Amanda Gittlein at [email protected] or 479-344-6464.

National Rural Health Day is led by the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health each November and honors the efforts of rural healthcare providers, state offices and other rural stakeholders who actively work to address the challenges of meeting these needs. According to NOSORH, nearly one in five Americans live in rural and frontier areas. Today, more than ever, rural communities must address accessibility issues, a lack of healthcare providers and a larger percentage of uninsured and underinsured citizens.
