— Gentry High School athletes Mason Clark and Chastery Fuamatu signed letters of intent on Thursday morning — Clark to throw the shot and discus for MSSU in Joplin, Mo., and Fuamatu to throw the shot and discuss for Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.

Both hold school records in the shot and discus and both have indoor and outdoor state titles in the track events.

Fuamatu threw the shot 42 feet, 8.5 inches, at the indoor state track meet in February — the best throw ever in the indoor state meet across all classifications. Mason Clark took first with his throw of 49 feet, 3.5 inches.

Clark has thrown the discus 157 feet, 2.75 inches. He’s thrown the shot 53 feet, 6 inches.

Fuamatu has thrown the discus 122 feet, 9.5 inches, and has thrown the shot 42 feet, 8.5 inches.

They signed their letters of intent in a joint ceremony Thursday morning in the Pioneer Activities Complex at Gentry High School.
