Gravette Day car show seeking entries

GRAVETTE -- Entries are still being sought for the annual Gravette Day car, truck and bike show. The show will be held Saturday, August 11, on the old bus barn property at the corner of Charlotte Street and Fourth Avenue S.E. Registration begins at 10 a.m. Awards will be given in various categories, and the awards presentation will be at 3 p.m.

Area car clubs and individual car owners are invited to display their vehicles. Entry fee is $10 for each entry. Anyone desiring to enter a vehicle may contact Chris and Tina Crose, show organizers, at 479-787-0510. All proceeds will benefit their child care center, Imagine Before & After School Care.

The annual car show always draws a nice variety of classic and custom cars from throughout the area. Special guest at the show will be Ben "Drag Daddy" Mitchell, cartoonist for "Cartoons" magazine, who is famous for his monster car art. He will be on hand to draw caricatures. Also featured will be "Eastbound and Down," the Trans Am and police car used in the filming of the movie "Smokey and the Bandit." The Croses said that, in connection with this vehicle display, they will be screening the "Smokey and the Bandit" movie at sunset, about 8:30 or 8:45, at the car show location. Moviegoers should bring their own lawn chairs or blankets for seating.
