GRAVETTE -- Gravette city officials have announced that the new city aquatic facility will be opening at 1 p.m. Friday, June 15. The facility, centered around the city swimming pool, now also features a 3,100 sq. ft. splash park, pavilions and a water slide.

Extensive remodeling was done to the pool amenities. The original pool house and bathrooms were torn down to the studs and now have new walls, flooring and fixtures. The pool deck was enlarged and resurfaced.

Open hours for the aquatic facility will be 1 to 7 p.m. Admission will be $3 until 5 p.m. and will drop to half-price, $1.50, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Ryan Shaffer, a college freshman who has been a lifeguard for several years, is pool manager. Six other lifeguards will also be on duty.

Three vending machines at the pool will offer snacks, drinks, ice cream and popsicles. Both the pool office and the vending machines will accept credit and debit cards.

Pool parties may be booked at a cost of $125 for less than 25 persons and $150 for 25 and up. Season passes are available at City Hall for $55 for an individual pass and $120 for a family.

Swimming lessons are being planned and the schedule will be announced soon. Those interested can sign up at City Hall or at the pool after it opens.
