Annual spring cleanup set April 29 to May 4

GRAVETTE -- The city of Gravette has announced the dates for its annual spring cleanup. This year's event will take place Monday, April 29, through Saturday, May 4. There will be self-service dumpsters available to Gravette residents at the City Shop and at the Hiwasse Park. Residents are encouraged to bring help to lift heavy items into the dumpsters.

Paint, coolant, flammable liquids, electronics and tires are prohibited. The dumpsters at the City Shop will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday. The dumpsters at Hiwasse will be open from dawn to dusk for the duration of the cleanup.

In addition to the general disposal dumpsters, there will be a separate electronics disposal trailer parked in the parking lot of the Gravette Police Department. Old televisions, computers, DVD players, video game systems and other electronics can be disposed of in the electronics trailer during the week of the cleanup.

"Gravette is a beautiful town and hosting a citywide cleanup twice a year helps to ensure the town remains that way," said Mayor Kurt Maddox. The next citywide cleanup will be held in the fall.

For disposal during the rest of the year, residents have two additional options.

Residents with trash service through Republic Services can set out one large or bulky item, excluding appliances, per week and it will be picked up free by Republic on the customer's regularly scheduled trash day. For questions about acceptable pickup items call Republic Trash Service at 1-800-627-1717.

Benton County Solid Waste operates several waste disposal sites throughout the county. Many items can be dropped off free, including household electronics, furniture, appliances, oversized items, scrap metal, household hazardous waste and up to four tires per month. This is a self-service drop-off and residents should bring help to handle bulky or heavy items. For a list of disposal locations or if you have questions, contact Benton County Solid Waste at 479-795-0751.
