GENTRY -- Linda Crume was officially appointed as the interim librarian at Gentry's Public Library last week. Crume has essentially been filling that post since the retirement of Darla Threet in December 2018.

In a news release from the city, Kevin Johnston, Gentry's mayor, said, "While the Gentry Public Library continues to play an important role in the quality of life and sense of place of our city, we must recognize that the leadership that we have to assist us within every department is crucial to the successful growth of our community. I am proud to announce that Linda Crume has officially accepted the position of interim head librarian and is committed to continue to be a city of Gentry team and family member.

"Linda's passion for our community and its citizens is greatly appreciated and I encourage each of you to take the time to get to know Linda and join me in welcoming her into this leadership position. I have no doubt that Linda will continue to play a vital role in the successful growth of our great city," the release states.

Crume has a master's degree in communications and has assisted at the library for the past two years.
