WESTSIDE -- Just one month remains in the 2019 high school track season leading up to the big event, the state track meet. For the Gravette Lions and Lady Lions, and the Gentry Pioneer and Lady Pioneer teams, the meets over the next few weeks will be critical to qualify as many athletes as possible for the state event.
Both schools, along with the Decatur Lady Bulldogs, traveled south to Lincoln to participate in the Wolves Senior Relays held at Wolfpack Stadium March 28. With springlike temperatures in the lower 60s, it was a perfect day for the event.
The Gravette Lady Lions pulled off a team victory by taking first place in the meet with 142. The Lady Pioneers were only able to pull off a 12th-place finish in the field of 14 1A-4A conference schools.
On the boys' side, the Pioneers fared much better with a first-place finish with 146 points ahead of the second-place Lions who had 70.5 points.
