Bulldogs, Lady Bulldogs fail with their bats

DECATUR -- The Decatur Baseball Bulldogs were on the road April 9 for a conference doubleheader against the Flippin Bobcats. Unfortunately for Bulldog baseball fans, the Bobcats took the win in both contests.

In game one, the Bobcats took the lead early and never relented, shutting out the Bulldogs, 19-0.

Game two was much the same as Decatur was unable to get its batting game in swing and lost to Flippin in a second shutout, 15-0.

The Lady Bulldog softball team played one game on the road April 8, facing the Greenland Lady Pirates in Greenland.

Decatur managed to hold Greenland to a pair of runs in the first inning, but a 10-run rally in the second ended the Lady Bulldogs' chances for winning its first contest. The Greenland Lady Pirates walked away with the shutout, 15-0, over the Decatur Lady Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs finish up the regular season April 18 at Edmiston Ball Park in Decatur for the senior night contest. Decatur will take on the Cedarville Pirates, while the Lady Bulldogs face the Lincoln Lady Wolves. Both contests are scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
