HIGHFILL -- A routine traffic stop by Highfill police led to the arrest of a man providing ride services who was wanted in connection with domestic violence strangulation or suffocation in Alabama.

On Friday, April 5, at approximately 10 p.m., the Highfill Police Department conducted a traffic stop at Arkansas Highway 12 and Regional Avenue in the city limits of Highfill.

The traffic stop was in connection with a moving traffic violation involving an auxiliary driving light use by ride-sharing drivers.

During the traffic stop, it was learned that the driver, Christopher Lee Jensen, 40, of 802 Oakwood Court in Centerton, was wanted out of Cullman County Ala., in connection with a grand jury indictment for felony strangulation/suffocation.

Jensen was providing Lyft and Uber services to the area. He also had a passenger in his car at the time of his arrest.

The Highfill Police Department would like to remind the public to exercise all prudent safety measures when ride sharing or hailing.

Safety tips recommended by Highfill Police are to:

• Stay inside while waiting for your ride;

• Match the license plate and the make and model of the car and the driver's photo to make sure they match what is on the app before getting into the car; and

• Use the new online campaign called #WhatsMyName, which encourages riders to ask the driver "What's My Name?" before getting into the car.
