GRAVETTE -- A dozen members of the Gravette High School class of 1964 held a 55-year reunion on Gravette Day. They met Saturday evening, Aug. 10, at the Hiwasse community building for a time of fellowship and a buffet meal prepared by class member Murel Collins.
Class members and their spouses attending included Phyllis (Edgmon) Burnett, Oliver and Mary Jo Duncan, Glenda (Galyean) Eldred, Susan (Douglas) Holland, Bob and Sandy (Parnham) Kelley, Stella (Shanklin) LaBounty, Sherman and Tenia Robinson, Max and Shirley Wallace, all of Gravette.
Attending from out of town were Donald and Nancy Payne of Bentonville, Murel (Black) Collins of Pineville, Mo., Cheryl (Whitten) and Brian Emery of Maumelle, and Pat Persing and her son Chris Shields of Fayetteville.
Class members enjoyed visiting and browsing through scrapbooks compiled by class members. A delicious meal of roast beef and gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans with bacon, coleslaw, roll, German chocolate cake and iced tea was served by Murel Collins, assisted by Bonnie Fair.
Several photos were taken, and Pat Persing presented each one present with a souvenir coffee mug. The orange and black ceramic mugs, featuring a circular wooden logo stamped with a lion's head and "Class of 1964," were designed and made by her son Chris.
Class members are planning another get-together this fall on homecoming weekend.
