GENTRY -- On Saturday, Feb. 2, the Gentry choir traveled to Conway for its all-state choir auditions.

The students who auditioned and made the all-state choir were Hunter Mills (12), Andrew Reynoso (12) and Tim Swearingen (12). Mills made Second Chair, Tenor 2; Reynoso made Sixth Chair, Tenor 1; and Swearingen made 19th Chair, for Bass 1.

"I've been waiting for this opportunity to try out for the all-state choir for the past four years," said Swearingen. "When I initially got to the audition, I was really nervous. There were a lot of competitions and a lot of good singers, too, but after the auditions, I still felt like I didn't do very well. Once I got my results, I saw that I did tremendously better than I thought I did. There were a lot of people that I thought deserved a higher chair or at least deserved to make it. Overall, the audition was a pleasant experience, and I'm excited to be a part of the 2019 all-state mixed choir."

"These students have worked so hard and I am incredibly proud of them," said Casey Jones, Gentry High School's choir director. "To have all three students audition and place in the choir is a huge accomplishment for Gentry Choirs."

This is the second year the high school has had all students who auditioned make the choir, Jones said. The all-state clinic was to be held in Hot Springs Feb. 13-16.
