GENTRY -- The Lady Pioneers picked up two wins and a loss over the holidays in tournament play against three Missouri teams.

On Dec. 27, the Gentry girls soundly defeated Marionville, 42-8. On Dec. 28, they did the same to East Newton, 57-31. But on the 29th, they came up short in play against Wheaton, falling 61-56.

Against East Newton Jaiden Wilmoth and Emily Toland each scored 12 points. Ariel Nix and Jaydon Jarnagan each had five.

The Lady Pioneers scored 10 points in the opening quarter, 17 in the second, 10 in the third and 20 in the final quarter for the big win.

Against Wheaton, Jarnagan scored 18 points and Nix 17. Randi Jo Bolinger and Wilmoth each had seven, but that wasn't quite enough for the win.

The Lady Pioneers were scheduled to travel to Farmington on Tuesday, after press time, and will host Prairie Grove on Friday for their colors day game. The coronation ceremony is set for 5:15 p.m. in the gymnasium at Gentry High School, with the boys' game to start at 6 p.m. and the girls' game to follow.
