DECATUR -- After an overwhelming victory over the Life Way Lady Warriors in Centerton Jan. 8, the Decatur Lady Bulldogs returned home Jan. 11 to face a new adversary, the Flippin Lady Bobcats, at Peterson Gym in Decatur. The contest came down to one final shot in the final seconds which gave the Lady Bulldog team its second victory of the week, this time by a single point.

The Flippin team braved deteriorating weather conditions to take on Decatur for the very first time. Along with the Bobcats' three basketball teams and cheerleaders, fans, traveling from as far away as east of Harrison, braved the weather to support their beloved Lady Bobcats.

It was slow going during the first quarter with both teams sizing each other up to see which game plans would best work to secure the win 32 minutes later. The Lady Bulldogs pulled out in front by one, setting the tone for the rest of the contest.

A short time later, the Lady Bobcats set the pace in the second quarter, jumping out in front by five at the break.

The Lady Bulldogs got back into the contest in the third quarter, cutting down the Lady Bobcats' lead to three going into the final eight minutes of the contest.

Decatur regained the lead halfway through the fourth quarter. But the Lady Bobcats were not ready to give up the fight as they managed to stay with the Lady Bulldogs until the final seconds of the contest. Decatur went up by one, taking the win, 49-48, over the Flippin Lady Bobcats.

Leading the way for the Decatur Lady Bulldogs was Sammie Skaggs with 21, followed by Annabelle Schopper with 15. Rounding out the scoring effort were Desi Meek with six, Abby Tilley and Paige Vann each with three.
