Highfill EHC

The Highfill E.H.C. met June 17 in the Gentry Public Library. The meeting was called to order by President Peggy Dillahunty. The pledge of allegiance was said by all. The song, "Oh What a Beautiful Morning," was sung by all. Roll call was answered with volunteer hours. We had a total of 351 hours.

Inspirational thoughts were given by Helene Zambrano. It was "The Greatest of These is Love." It was very good.

New ideas were shared. Shirley Philpott had a table runner and a burlap wreath. Effie Byers had table decorations, a star and an angel. Helene Zambrano had a book that she had written that depicted her life from the time they lived in Holland to now. She also had pictures from the same time frame. It was very interesting.

Effie Byers and Natasha Fitts enjoyed their trip to Hot Springs for the state meeting.

The minutes were read and approved. The treasurer's report was given.

Peggy reported on the different lessons that are offered at the Schmieding Center in Springdale. Our next meeting will be on July 15. All are invited.

The lesson for today was on Tornado Safety and Earthquakes. Jeanie Hittson gave the lesson. We need to remember DUCK. D is to go downstairs or the lowest part of the house. U is to get underneath something. C is to go to the center part of the house and cover your head. K is to keep away from windows and stay in shelter until the storm has passed. It was a very informative lesson.

The meeting closed with the reading of the "Homemakers Prayer."
