GRAVETTE -- The game was tied up after six innings on a cold opening day for the Lady Lions softball team March 1, but the Rogers Mounties were able to score six in the top of the seventh and take the victory, 7-1.

Bailey Elmore was on the mound for the Lady Lions for five and a half innings, and the game remained scoreless through five innings until a sacrifice fly brought Jordan Jeffery in for the first run of the night.

With Rogers leading by one, Taos Jones, Lady Lions softball coach, pulled Elmore and brought in Cally Kildow as relief pitcher. She was able to get the Lady Lions out of the top of the sixth with no further runs.

In the bottom of the sixth, with Lady Lions' Shylee Morrison on third base, Kildow hit a ground ball to right field for a base hit, bringing Morrison home for the tying run.

But, at the top of the seventh, a series of fielding errors, coupled with several simple mistakes, allowed the Lady Mounties to score six runs and lead 7-1. Gravette was unable to recover, with all three batters retired in a row in the bottom of the inning and the Rogers Lady Mounties claiming the win by six.
