SILOAM SPRINGS -- Boys and Girls Club of Western Benton County recently announced the January Volunteer and Youths of the Month for all four sites in Siloam Springs, Gentry, Decatur and Gravette.

Mike Wiebe was chosen to be the January 2019 Volunteer of the Month for Boys and Girls Club of Western Benton County. Mike has served on the corporate board of Boys and Girls Club of Western Benton County for four years. Mike loves the Boys and Girls Club because of the culture of helping youth that has been created by the Club. Mike enjoys fishing in his free time and says that "the youth today will be the future."

Joey Rockwell, 10, was selected to be the January 2019 Youth of the Month for the Siloam Springs location of Boys and Girls Club of Western Benton County. Joey loves the Boys and Girls Club because of the opportunity that he has to play sports and see his friends. Joey hopes to be a scientist when he grows up and his favorite thing to do at the Club is taking the trash out at the end of the night. "Joey is a kid of many talents. He has an incredible ability to sleep and match his shirt with his sweats, but beyond that, he is a joy to be around and makes our Club a better place" said Stephen Johnston, director of operations.

Dominick Dozier, 5, was chosen by the staff of the Gentry extension as the January 2019 Youth of the Month for Gentry. Dominick loves to play wall ball and tag with his friends at the Boys and Girls Club. Dominick would like to be a professional basketball player one day and his favorite hobby is playing football at home with his brother. "Dominick's character is one to look up to by his friends. He is always wanting to help people feel better when they're hurting and tries to play with everyone, no matter the game," said Josh Lattie, Gentry site director.

Martha Smith-Gomez, 14, was selected to be the January 2019 Youth of the Month for Decatur. Martha likes the Boys and Girls Club because it allows her and other students to participate in and help the community. Martha hopes to one day be a chemical engineer. She also loves to work and compete with her herd of purebred sheep. "Martha is a very active member in our program. She serves youth by helping them with work and serving dinner. We appreciate all that she does and are glad to have her," said Ethan Pendergraft, SPARK site coordinator.

Nolan McBride, 10, was chosen by the staff of the Gravette extension to be the January 2019 Youth of the Month. Nolan's favorite thing about the Boys and Girls Club is the robotics program that is offered during the after-school program. Nolan hopes to be a professional basketball player one day and his favorite hobby is drawing. Nolan's favorite food is pizza. "Nolan is a very respectful young man and a great role model for the younger kids," said Mali Schreiber, 21st century after-school site coordinator.
