Lady Lions shut out Lady Wolverines

GRAVETTE -- With temperatures in the lower 40s and wind chills hovering around 39 degrees, Lion and Wolverine fans filled the bleachers at Lion Ball Park in Gravette March 7 when the Gravette Lady Lions hosted the Bentonville West Lady Wolverines in the second softball game of the 2019 season for Gravette.

Gravette pitching sensation Bailey Elmore was on the mound for the Lady Lions. Elmore held Bentonville West to only three hits through the full seven-inning contest.

In the bottom of the first inning, the Lady Lions brought a runner home for the first score of the night. Cally Kildow, Summer Kaba, Lexi Gerner and Elmore each were credited with runs batted in, boosting the Gravette score to six runs by the bottom of the fourth inning. Gabbi Scott went two for three from the plate to lead the Lady Lions in base hits.

Bentonville West was unable to bring in any runners, giving the Gravette Lady Lions the win, 6-0.

The Lady Lions had 26 at-bats, six runs, seven hits, four runs batted in, one walk and 13 strikeouts.

Elmore delivered 101 pitches, allowed three hits and no runs and struck out 17 in the shutout.
