GRAVETTE -- The Gravette Fire Department will host a hands-only CPR class from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at the Billy V. Hall Senior Activity and Wellness Center. The class is free and open to the public and will be taught by Lt. John Sturdivant.
Hands-only CPR is a chest-compression-only method of CPR that is as effective as traditional CPR with breaths.
According to Gravette Fire Chief David Orr, "Hands-only CPR is a life-saving technique, and knowing the proper method could buy valuable time until help arrives."
According to the American Heart Association, the chance of survival from a cardiac arrest increases significantly when CPR is started immediately.
There is no pre-registration required. The class is appropriate for all ages. Class participants should wear comfortable clothes.
The Senior Center is located at 1870 Limekiln Road in Gravette.
