DECATUR -- The Decatur Lady Bulldog soccer team had its hands full May 9 when the team squared off against the Harding Academy Lady Wildcats at the Sports and Recreation Complex in Harrison.

The Lady Bulldogs fell behind quickly and were never able to catch up as the Lady Wildcats of Harding Academy defeated the Decatur Lady Bulldogs, 10-0.

With the loss, the Lady Bulldogs end their second year of competition and the 2019 season on the negative side.

The Decatur Bulldogs were able to slip by with a first round win in the 2A state playoffs, also in Harrison, on May 9 by defeating the Conway Christian Eagles, 5-3, to advance to round two.

The Bulldogs traveled back to Harrison May 10 for a 12 p.m. match with the Central Arkansas Christian Academy Mustangs. The Mustangs bolted out of the starting game with six goals across 80 minutes of play for a 6-0 win over Decatur, ending the Bulldogs' 2019 season.

For coaches Julie Henderson and Daniel Meyers, their first year at the helm yielded one of the best seasons in five years for the Decatur Bulldog soccer team with a 9-8-1 overall record, including a tie with the Gentry Pioneers in the opening match and a 6-4 conference finish in second place in the 3A-1 regular season.
