Huckriede, with his ever-present camera, documents many sports events and other activities and does landscape and nature photography in the area. He has been chosen as grand marshal of the Gravette Day 2019 parade.

GRAVETTE -- Steve Huckriede has been named grand marshal of the 2019 Gravette Day parade to be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 10.

Huckriede, a local photographer, is known to many for his pictures of Gravette High School games and events, as well as community events. He enjoys landscape and nature photography and his works are on display at City Hall, the Gravette Civic Center, Grand Savings Bank and The Patio. His photographs have also been featured in the Gravette Community Guide and the Westside Eagle Observer.

"The Gravette Day Committee chose Steve Huckriede as grand marshal because he documents the life of the community through his photographs," said Heather Finley, chairwoman.

Huckriede, who is originally from Kansas, enlisted in the U.S. Army, in which he attended Warrant Officer Candidate School and served as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He later worked in the electrical wholesale business and drove a school bus for the Gravette School District. Huckriede is active in the Greater Gravette Chamber of Commerce and the Gravette Kiwanis Club. He has two daughters, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In honor of Huckriede, the Gravette Day Committee selected "Making Memories" as the Gravette Day theme. Gravette Day attendees are encouraged to take photographs to preserve a record of the day's events.

The Gravette Historical Museum invites the public to view a selection of historical photographs on display at the museum annex. People may stop by the Gravette Public Library between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Gravette Day to take shelfies (selfies taken in front of bookshelves) and participate in the Book Face Challenge. Social media photo booths will be stationed at various locations including the museum and library.

Anyone wishing to participate in the parade, be a vendor or register for pageants can find information and forms at or by coming to Gravette City Hall.
