Decatur Chamber awards scholarships during annual honors banquet

DECATUR -- Just five days prior to their graduation ceremony at Peterson Gym in Decatur, nine senior honor students, their family members and friends were recognized during the Decatur Chamber of Commerce's' annual Honors Banquet in the cafeteria at Decatur High School May 6.

After a delicious meal provided by the Gallery Cafe in Decatur, Chamber president Kim Wilkins and secretary Sandy Duncan presented Dania Uribe, Class of 2019 valedictorian, and Samantha Skaggs, salutatorian, with scholarships provided through donations to the chamber scholarship funds.

Each honor student was given a gift bag filled with various food items and school supplies needed for the first year of college.

The 2019 honorees included Desi Meek, Renae Nino, Elizabeth Haisman, Jacqueline Hernandez, Savanna Dodson, Mattie Ramsey, Coral Frydrychowski, Skaggs and Uribe.
