DECATUR -- When the young Lady Bulldog volleyball team first entered into a conference in 2016 after completing its probationary year in 2015, the team was placed into the 4A Northwest Conference. It was competing with such area teams as Gravette, Gentry, Lincoln and Prairie Grove.

After the Arkansas Activities Association moved Decatur into the 2A West conference in 2018, the Lady Bulldogs faced off with only Gentry from its original conference. But on Sept. 30, Decatur had the chance to square off against a different team from its old conference, the Prairie Grove Lady Tigers, in the Lady Bulldogs' new home at the Decatur Middle School gym.

The last time these two teams met was Oct. 10, 2017, at the Prairie Grove High School gym in Prairie Grove. In that contest, the Lady Bulldogs went down to defeat in three straight sets in the non-conference match.

Unfortunately for Decatur volleyball fans, the outcome of this meeting was no different. The Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Bulldogs in straight sets once again, 25-14, 25-13, 25-11.

In spite of the lopsided scores, the Lady Bulldogs held their own throughout parts of the three-set contest with several long volleys between the two teams. Decatur made Prairie Grove work for every point. But, ultimately, simple mistakes and lapses in focus cost the Lady Bulldogs the match.
