DECATUR -- Pathways to Progress, a new Decatur nonprofit organization, is pedaling into its first event in Decatur in a bright way, with a light your bike contest.
The "Glow Ride" will take place at Decatur City Hall Oct. 19 from 7 to 8 p.m., with registration from 5:30-6:45 p.m. Entry fee for the event is $3 per bike. The contest is open to all ages.
Glow sticks will be available for contestants to make their bikes really "glow" in the dark.
Prior to registration for the Glow Ride event, Pathways to Progress will hold a bike giveaway beginning at 4 p.m. The group was given a donation of 50 bikes\helmets from a group called Peddle it Forward.
If anyone has a bike he or she is no longer using, it can be donated or traded during the giveaway.
