DECATUR -- In the final full week of the 2A West conference race, the Decatur Lady Bulldogs faced off with the Northwest Arkansas Classical Academy Lady Spartans in a conference bout at the middle school gym in Decatur Oct. 8. The result? The Lady Bulldogs chalked up one more for win number nine on the regular season and six in conference play.

Decatur met NWACA Sept. 12 in Bentonville. In that contest, the Lady Bulldogs came out on top in three straight sets, 25-11, 25-15, 25-15. The contest in Decatur proved to be much the same.

The Lady Bulldogs came off the bench pumped and ready to play as co-captain Destiny Mejia served up the first ball of the contest. Mejia's five straight serves in set one netted the Lady Bulldogs its first lead of the match. Decatur kept up the pressure, taking the first set, 25-12.

Decatur continued to pound NWACA through the second set, allowing the Lady Spartans only eight points before Bronwyn Berry, Decatur powerhouse, stepped behind the service line and delivered the winning blow as Decatur took the second set, 25-8.

The Decatur Lady Bulldogs capped off the contest with a 25-12 third set win and the conference win in straight sets.
