Springtown Council Report

SPRINGTOWN -- The town council met Sept. 10, according to council minutes, with the following information recorded in the minutes:

The declaratory judgment appeal has been filed. The appellant's brief has been prepared and filed by George Rhoads and Associates for the town. The appellee's brief was filed Sept. 10 and is available online.

There were no updates on the Bredehoeft Street Project. It was reported that the Bredehoeft low-water bridge replacement project was underway but no updates were given.

A petition for closures for unmaintained streets and alleys south of Arkansas Highway 12 was reported as in progress.

Alderman Barrett reportedly contacted the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission for assistance in cleaning up Flint Creek and that a site visit to assess the situation and make recommendations would likely come after Jan. 1.

Alderman Clark said it was time for the fall cleanup, and Mayor Terri Glenn will schedule delivery of the large dumpster.

Clark also suggested replacing worn flags on Main Street.

Alderman Janet Bostwick suggested additional signage on Highway 12 in an effort to slow traffic, decrease accidents and increase safety. Glenn said she would contact the state highway department and request the signage.

The council reviewed year-to-date summaries for General and Street Funds and approved the financial report.

Alderman Chuck Bostwick made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Alderman Janet Bostwick seconded the motion, all agreed, and the meeting adjourned.
